HOUYI Aquascaping Expanding Foam 900g – Aquarium Safe Hardscape Foam
Create dramatic, three-dimensional natural landscapes with HOUYI Aquascaping Expanding Foam, a specialist foam developed for ecological landscaping and hardscape construction.
The foam expands and cures in the presence of moisture in the air, allowing aquascapers and terrarium builders to create rock formations, caves, cliffs, backgrounds, waterfalls and other custom structures without the enormous weight of constructing everything from natural rock.
It is particularly useful for securing and integrating rocks, driftwood, roots and other hardscape materials, while filling gaps and creating contours that can subsequently be shaped into a more natural-looking landscape.
Once cured, the foam can be trimmed and carved to achieve the desired shape. It can also form the structural base for backgrounds subsequently covered or integrated with substrate, moss and other decorative materials.
Ideal for: Aquascaping, planted aquariums, terrariums, paludariums, vivariums, mossariums, custom 3D backgrounds, rock walls, caves, waterfalls and rainforest-style installations.
Good Adhesion: Houyi lists compatibility with surfaces including glass, timber, uPVC, masonry, brick, steel and aluminium, although it is not recommended for PP, PE or Teflon surfaces.
How to Use
Shake the can thoroughly for approximately one minute and attach the applicator. Surfaces should be clean, dry and free from dust. Apply from the deepest or lowest part of the structure upwards.
Because the foam expands substantially, the manufacturer guidance reproduced by specialist retailers recommends initially filling only around 30% of the intended space. The foam can begin to be shaped after approximately 60 minutes.
IMPORTANT: Allow the foam to cure completely before submerging or introducing fish, shrimp or other livestock. A full cure of 24–48 hours is recommended before underwater use. Specialist sellers of Houyi specify this curing window for aquarium applications.
