Labisia ‘Snake Skin’
Bring a collector’s touch to your tropical plant display with Labisia ‘Snake Skin’. Grow this foliage plant in a sheltered, humid environment where you can enjoy its leaves up close. A humidity-controlled cabinet or a suitably sized, ventilated tropical terrarium can provide a more stable environment than a dry, air-conditioned room.
What you receive
One potted Labisia ‘Snake Skin’ plant. Each living plant varies naturally in size, leaf count and appearance. ‘Snake Skin’ is used as a trade name, without claiming a confirmed botanical species.
Care guide
- Light: Provide gentle, filtered indirect light. Avoid harsh direct sunlight. If using grow lights, begin with moderate intensity and adjust gradually.
- Watering: Keep the medium lightly and evenly moist, never waterlogged. Check moisture before watering rather than following a fixed schedule. Allow excess water to drain and do not leave the pot standing in water.
- Humidity and airflow: Maintain consistently high humidity with gentle ventilation. Avoid stagnant conditions and foliage that stays wet for long periods.
- Temperature: Provide stable warmth, away from cold drafts, direct air-conditioning and excessive heat.
- Potting medium: Use an airy, moisture-retentive mix, such as coco coir with fine bark, perlite and a little sphagnum moss. Choose a pot with drainage holes and avoid compacted soil.
- Feeding: Apply a balanced foliage fertiliser at a dilute strength during active growth, following the product label. Do not feed a stressed or newly arrived plant.
- Repotting: Repot only when necessary into a slightly larger pot. Handle roots gently and avoid unnecessary disturbance.
- After arrival: Place in a stable, humid spot with indirect light. Check the medium before watering, allow time to settle, and avoid immediate repotting or fertilising. Keep separate from your other plants initially and inspect for pests.
Troubleshooting
Crisp edges can result from dry air, uneven moisture or excessive light. Yellowing leaves with persistently wet medium warrant a check of drainage and watering. If the plant wilts, check the medium first: both dryness and root stress can cause wilting.
Important notes
This is a terrestrial ornamental plant, not an aquatic plant. Do not submerge it. Do not consume, and keep out of reach of children and pets. Plant height, pot size and leaf count are not specified.
